Finding the right transfer tank for your short bed pickup might seem pretty difficult. Short bed pickup trucks have less bed width available for fitting a transfer tank inside your truck bed.

What are the Dimensions in your Short Bed Pickup?
When measuring your pickup bed for a transfer tank, the most important measurement is the width of your pickup bed. The width of your pickup bed will equal the length of your transfer tank.
*Remember, always double check the actual width of your short bed pickup before purchasing a transfer tank.

Wheel Well Dimensions
When measuring the transfer tank width, you need to pay close attention to the measurement from the pickup bed cab to the point when you hit the wheel well inside your pickup truck. The wheel well reduces the available tank length of your transfer tank.
Some transfer tanks have a notched bottom length that allows you to fit your tank in between the wheel wells in your truck.
*Every short bed truck will have slightly different measurements from the back of the bed to the wheel well. Be sure you take an accurate measurement before you purchase a transfer tank.
- Average Distance from Pickup Bed Cab to Wheel Well (tank width): 12 to 15 inches.
It is also really important to measure the width between your wheel wheels. The wheel well length will be less than your short bed width. However, the wheel well length may still provide enough space for a notched transfer tank or a transfer tank with length that is less than your wheel well width.
Height Considerations
If you need extra fuel capacity, a transfer tank for a short bed will need to have extra height in order accommodate larger fuel capacities.
If you have a tonneau cover on your short bed truck, this will typically limit your height to a maximum of 20 to 21 inches.
Fuel Pump Considerations
A short bed transfer tank requires a fuel pump to dispense fuel. Many transfer tanks have a top mounted fuel pump. Top mounted fuel pumps often add 10 extra inches of height on top of your transfer tank.
*Transfer tanks are not able to transfer fuel directly to your factory fuel tank. If you want to transfer fuel to your factory fuel tank, you need to see short bed auxiliary tanks. Our short bed auxiliary tanks are only compatible with diesel fuel.
