Shipping Considerations
We ship Newberry Tanks from Arkansas. Smaller tanks will ship by LTL freight, but larger tank sizes require shipping on a flat bed trailer.
- LTL Freight Tank Sizes: 150 gallon, 300 gallon, and 550 gallon.
- Flat Bed Freight Sizes: 1,000 gallons and greater.
How to Save on Tank Shipping Costs
Steel tanks can be expensive to ship because of the heavy weight. For context, the 150 gallon single wall steel tanks weigh 400 pounds and the 1,000 gallon double wall steel tanks weigh 2,025 pounds.
There are a few ways to minimize freight shipping charges:
Volume Shipping
Freight rates are lower when shipping more than one tank.
Ship Vents / Gauges / Fuel Pumps Separately
We offer all customers the option of installing vents, gauges and fuel pumps at the factory prior to shipment.
For tank sizes that ship on LTL freight (up to 550 gallons), not installing the vents, gauges, or fuel pump on the tank prior to shipment can result in lower LTL freight costs because not installing the attachments prior to shipping, reduces the shipping dimensions of the tank.
This option can save freight, but it does require the customer to install the attachments themselves after the tank is delivered.
Partial Freight Load Shipping
If you purchase a 1,000 gallon tank or greater, we can ship the tank on a flat bed trailer as a partial freight load.
Shipping as a partial freight load means, the flat bed trailer will not leave until the trailer is fully loaded with other freight deliveries. This can result in slightly longer shipping times, but it offers significant savings compared to a direct freight shipment.
